2008 Christmas Tree

Winter Time in SW Washington

Came home from a mini vacation in Canada to a week of snow and ice at home, and it isn't even officially winter yet. These guys seem content as long as the hubby keeps up his farm chores and feeds them everyday. Most hummingbirds leave for the winter - but this one has stayed around.

Trip to Victoria BC

Hubby and I recently returned from a trip to Victoria BC to see "Sarah Brightman". It was a wonderful performance, particularly her duets and phantom of the opera. There was a blizzard there with freezing temperatures and winds (they never get snow - in fact they have been trying to sell their one snow plow). Needless to say, this turned into the "amazing adventure" as my husband calls it.

The previous photograph of hydrangeas within the header of my blog was sent to me. I was unaware that it belongs to Leslie Miller of Running With Scissors. As soon as I was aware of this, it was removed immediately.

Leslie's site can be seen at http://leslierich.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/ and known as Running with Scissors. Please visit her site for inspiration and see her incredible creations.

September
September, the harvest month...Summer is over and autumn has arrived.

It has been a very warm September for the northwest. However, today it is raining and I must say I welcome it. Fall is a beautiful time of the year - a time to not worry about watering plants and the lawn. A very good time to get back into reading.

One of my daily reading that I enjoy is "Simple Abundance" A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Each month she lists Joyful Simplicities. For example - September:
  • Start making your Christmas list this month so that you won't be frantic in December
  • Look at farmer's markets for dried flowers to create your own bouquet
  • Enjoy fresh apple cider
  • Experiment with different types of popcorn

Wedding Keepsake Card

This keepsake card was inspired by two incredibly talented ladies:
Diamondangelfish
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1010447

Heather Nichols at her website “Pine Is Here”
http://pinefeather.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8345241b069e200e553d487188833-popup

I used parts of the bride's invitation on the pull outs inside. The middle pull out is a gift card holder and the left and right are parts of her invitation. Photos can also be stored in the slots. The basis of this is three 5 x 5 square envelopes.

Variation of my first post of Peaceful Wishes. I like this one better because of the raised background, brighter color, and more contrast.

Happy Holidays

Christmas in July

I usually start in July designing and playing around with ideas for Christmas cards. It takes me months to decide the card for that year.

Celebrate

I wanted a card that matched a gift I wrapped. So...I used the wrapping paper as the background on this card.

Plant Stick Hat

I made this using an empty ribbon spool and frayed the ribbon. Hopefully it looks like a fancy hat. I am using it as a top glued to my ribbon scraps jar, but it would be a nice plant stick for mother's day don't you think?
