I used the same colors as Mellissa Phillips in her tutorial video but on a larger scale, added a ribbon, and added text on the ribbon.  In addition, I do not have the gelatos so I used chalk instead.  If I were to redo this card I would soften the colors more or possibly add some vellum over top.

Butterfly

Experimenting with using various patterned paper together.  I think my balance is off on this one; moving the doily up further would help with the balance and possibly the addition of different color (i.e., stamp black body and antennae to the center of the butterfly body).  Critiques welcomed.

Papertrey Make It Monday - April 27, 2015 (Using Vellum to Soften Patterns)

This card was actually made by making an error using too much heat while embossing a message at the bottom of the card and the vellum melted.  Therefore, I had to cut off part of the vellum.  Thus, only the top 2/3 of the card have the vellum over it to soften the colored background. Even so, I think it amplifies the softness that the vellum gives to the background paper.

I knew I wanted to start with a new stamp set that included an Iris.  Iris was one of my mother's favorite flowers and each time I see them brings back that memory.

My take on the inspiration photos are the dark blue of the table cloth, the pattern vellum as the clear plates and glass, with the addition of pinks in the pattern background and the flower.
